What we will get up to on this course, and why: 
Join this course to learn to positively approach your menopause. We’ll practice a broad variety of yoga styles, breathwork, pelvic health, along with other nurturing activities to help you ride through your menopause with more ease, awareness and support.

You will learn methods to help you understand and alleviate some of the uncomfortable symptoms of menopause  within a community of women, You will be guided to transition through this ‘rite of passage’ with a deeper sense of self using nourishing methods to help you feel like the well woman you deserve to be. Each week we will discuss a different topic, guided by you, so your voice will be part of this experience.

This four-week course is for women who are journeying through:
  • Early peri menopause – Women from their 30s & 40s can start to feel changes, physically and/or emotionally but usually have not made the connection yet
  • Peri menopause – It can feel like a more intense and noticeable time – your cycle is beginning to change (heavier and/or shorter or lighter) and more 'typical' symptoms occur (e.g. hot flushes, disturbed sleep etc.)
  • The Menopause  – A period of time that spans 13 consecutive moons without a bleed, which can take several years, for you to qualify to:
  • Post Menopause – Your symptoms ease, and your emotions become more balanced. It can be the wonderful wild time for women who have journeyed through all the steps to get here.

Where, what and how?

~ Classes will take place in my garden studio in  Montem Road, New Malden, with 8 women max per class.
~ The style of yoga will be very gentle and accessible, suitable for all bodies and abilities.
~ Please bring a yoga mat and blanket and wear comfortable clothing.

Yoga for menopause

For those who practice yoga, you already know how it helps us let go of what we no longer need, as well as calm our mindset and give us confidence in many ways. On a physical level yoga helps to mobilise the body, accessing the joints, the muscles and can even strengthen our bones, which can all be effected during menopause. The breathwork and meditation work on a more subtle energetic way - supporting us to shift negative emotions and behaviours. Compassion for ourselves, but also to those around us, can be vital during this grand transition of life so we can not only fulfil our life but continue to connect and support those we love.

Contemplation
Journaling and Art can be a powerful cleansing tool and has been around since ink and paint was first produced (think caves and ancient texts!).
While some may feel the 'loss' of their menstrual cycle , these tools facilitate you to explore your ability to 'create' in another way. It is not essential to journal or start drawing/painting for these workshops, but you may find exploring areas of your life in this way helpful and healing, in whatever expression you choose. If you feel drawn to share anything in class, you are so welcome! Here are some questions to consider using for either journaling, art, or both:
  • What area of your life would you most like to find relief/your power?
  • Have you noticed any shifts to your mood recently - bold or soft?
  • How much of your time do you spend serving others, versus yourself?
  • Is there anything you like to say or express to your younger self?
  • What loving words would the younger you say to the present you?
Though these are questions, answers can be expressed in art forms too

​About me: I am Advanced Yoga Teacher E-500hrYT and have practised yoga since 1994. I teach Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Prenatal Yoga and Postnatal Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin yoga, Yoga for Teens and Well Women Yoga. I have been exploring the Well Woman movement for some time and have trained with Uma Dinsmore Tuli PhD since 2017 to be able to support women’s wellbeing in my classes, workshops & retreats. I am currently creating a course with Nalini Wellness for yoga teachers and practitioners that work with women, to facilitate classes and circles for women's wellness.
