4 week Yoga Course for Back Care
Tuesdays 7pm 75mins // LIVESTREAMED // RECORDED
Nov 15th, 22nd, 29th ; Dec 6th
The spine is a combination of very mobile to very static components, it’s the body’s central support structure and helps you to sit, stand, walk, twist and bend. It also protects the spinal cord & nerve roots (carries signals between brain to body), as well as internal organs. Its health is important not just for mobility but for overall wellbeing.
I built a programme to ease pain, strengthen and improve flexibility in the back, using a variety of yoga techniques. I started to feel discomfort in my back last year and have had to adapt my yoga practice because of it. I was treating my body like it was still 20 years old and putting it through surprise and often tough DIY jobs and expecting it to be ok. Using my yoga background and training in anatomy & physiology, I decided to see if I could do something about it. I quickly realised I needed to increase & maintain strength in my spine, and think about how I operated during normal activities (driving, walking, even cooking). I also discovered how ‘active’ rest was a huge component to feeling stronger.
